How to survive a crazy ex tip #1.
--
Disclaimer I am not a professional; I am a girl who has been through and survived this situation and I am giving tips based on what I did right as well as what I did wrong.
Many people of all genders, races, and sexual orientations have or had a crazy and/or psychotic ex. I want to share my personal tips on how to survive the craziest of the craziest exes. I have a criminally psychotic ex. When I tell people about this they tend to ask things like “How do you define a psychotic ex?” or “Are you sure he’s really crazy? He seems so sweet when we have talked.” Before I get into how to survive this I should define what a crazy or psychotic ex in my experience is. One thing to start off is the difference between crazy, psychotic, and a sociopathic ex. A crazy ex is not only crazy in front of you they will mess up in front of other people too. A psychotic ex or a psychopath are extremely manipulative and they are used to getting their way. Furthermore, a psychotic ex is more likely to have a criminal history, but they are capable of having feelings. A sociopathic ex is the ultimate narcissist they are not capable of love their brains can’t create normal human emotions it is a disease and they can not change. The major similarity between a psychopath and a sociopath is they will treat you mostly the same and are manipulative but once a sociopath has you where they want you they will discard you. A sociopath will not leave you alone till you have fulfilled the purpose he sought you out for however, they are likely to give up quicker and move on to a new target. Overall a psychotic ex is the most dangerous because they won’t let go as easily, no one will suspect them, and they will stop at nothing to achieve their goal.
Now you know the difference between the different types of crazy exes you might wonder how to save yourself from them. With all three kinds of “crazy” exes, one thing you should do is gather proof in a legal way. If they send a threatening text screenshot it and save it to several backup devices. Make sure you do use more than two backup devices to keep them from erasing it. It harder if you have more backups they don’t know about. If you know someone else they have threatened or harmed ask for any evidence they may have and save it. If they are comfortable with it ask them to tell you their recount of events while recording. Make sure you have them verbalize their consent on the recording or get it in writing; if possible get it in writing as well as on the recording. These are things that can hold up if you have to go to court for any reason such as pressing charges or getting a restraining order. Before taking matters to court you have to let them know that you have evidence and will be taking things to court; it makes you look better if you do and helps you to win the case. If your ex tells you that you have to show them the evidence that you have ignore them! In fact, many lawyers and law enforcement officers would advise you not to show the person so they don’t know what you have and can not tamper with the evidence. In other words, look up ways you can legally document threats in your area and follow those guidelines.
As you can tell when I say “Get dirt on them!” I mean it in the legal sense. Get evidence and take them to court. This is just the beginning of what you can do to survive a crazy, psychotic, or sociopathic ex. If you don’ go to court at least hold on to it in case things get worse. However, as a person who has been there before don’t let it get too far or you could end up running for your life or even dead. So just like any abusive relationship seek help because I promise you are not alone. Until next time stay safe.
